Our latest work for Royal Mail is a new stamp pack celebrating the upcoming XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. It carries six rather lovely stamps by designer Howard Brown, and anticipates all the thrills, spills, guts and glory to come at the ‘Friendly Games’.
The pack itself was designed by our friends at Supple Studio (who were responsible for this very website) and features punchy, dynamic illustrations of athletes and sporting venues by Tim Marrs/CIA.
Jim provided a short profile of the city of Glasgow, a rundown of all the sporting disciplines on show, and descriptions of the various venues. The trick was to keep things snappy and informative without mentioning specific athletes or events. In essence this is something of a preview, but it still had to remain relevant during and after the event.
